Our centre offers outdoor learning programs for high school students in Years 11 and 12. All programs are linked to the NSW curriculum.

Agriculture: Winona Farm case study

Time: All Day

Location: Winona Farm - Stubbo

Students visit and investigate the property ‘Winona’, north of Gulgong, managed by woolgrower and pasture cropping pioneer Colin Seis.  Students explore and understand the various on-farm enterprises, the biological and physical resources of Winona and the overarching regenerative agricultural practices used to manage the farm.

Ancient History: Red Hill Archaeological Dig

Location: Red Hill EEC

Students examine the contribution of archaeology and science to our understanding of the past. This investigation involves the analysis and interpretation of physical and written evidence from around the Historic Red Hill precinct and nearby museums.

Regent Honeyeater

Biology: Depth Study - The Regent Honeyeater

Time: 1 or 2 days

Location: Taronga Western Plains Zoo & Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve

Students will conduct field work to collect first-hand data to explore the syllabus inquiry question “What effect can one species have on the other in a community?”, focusing on the Regent Honeyeater and Box Gum Grassy Woodlands habitat.

This program investigates the effectiveness of legal and nonlegal measures in promoting global environmental protection, exploring both The Drip Gorge, Goulburn River National Park and the Bylong Valley as local case studies.

PDHPE: Ganguddy Trek

This option module focuses on the development of skills, understanding and attitudes necessary for safe participation in outdoor recreation activities. Students undertake practical learning experiences in order to develop technical skills of camp craft, navigation and survival action.
