High potential and gifted education
Our centre offers environmental education learning programs for students of all ages who are gifted or show high potential.
These programs are linked to the NSW curriculum. They are designed to stretch and challenge students with strengths in thinking, creativity, leadership or physical skills.

What we offer
Our high potential and gifted education program includes:
- authentic, hands-on learning in nature that helps students think in new and deeper ways
- activities linked to science, geography, history, PDHPE, and creative and performing arts
- tasks that support creative thinking, problem solving and leadership
- chances to ask big questions, work with others and explore ideas
- learning about caring for Country, sustainability and Aboriginal cultures
- optional classroom activities before and after the visit
- teachers who are trained to support and stretch high potential students
- activities that can be changed to suit your students’ stage, strengths and interests.
Ganguddy-Dunns Swamp Leadership
Red Hill Environmental Education Centre deliver a variety of leadership programs based at Ganguddy-Dunns Swamp for students in Years 3 to 12. Students are given the opportunity to work cooperatively, think critically and problem-solve in an engaging natural setting. Programs include:
- Stage 2 and 3 Exploring Nature
- Year Group leadership camps
- Stage 6 PDHPE Treks
Gaanha-Girri Carrying Future
The Gaanha-Girri Carrying Future is a cultural leadership program designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students in Years 9 to 12. Students engage in a variety of days of learning-on-Country, working with Red Hill EEC Aboriginal Educators and community Elders and mentors.
Eco-Schools
Participating Eco-Schools will benefit from students contributing to the assessment and improvement of their school environment by investigating and taking action on one or more of the Eco-Schools themes - Biodiversity, Energy & Climate, Fair Go - Global Citizens, Lifestyles, Circular Economy, Litters & Waterways, and Water.
The Storey Players - The Untold Story of Gulgong (Theatre)
Held at the famous Prince of Wales Opera House in Gulgong, this program offers selected students in Years 4-6 the opportunity to access their imaginations and explore an ‘untold story’ of Gulgong. Using elements of Visual Arts, Music, Dance and Drama, the program invites students to interact with Gulgong community members as they share and swap stories about the past and create a visual masterpiece that they can share with others.
The Storey Players - Wiradjuri Language Film
In collaboration with the Gulgong Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), Red Hill Environmental Education Centre welcome students in Years 7 and 8 to immerse themselves in First Nations language and film. The Storey Players Wiradjuri Film Program supports young students in developing their creative and performing arts skills, whilst connecting with Cuntry and culture.
